Prof. Shouyu Wang carried out long-term systematic research on the spontaneous breaking of nuclear symmetry. He pays attention to the combination of experiment and theory, and obtain a series of research results. Firstly, provide the first experimental evidence on simultaneous chiral and reflection symmetry breaking in nuclei. Secondly, take the lead in studying the nuclear chiral symmetry in the A~80 mass region, discovered the world's lightest chiral nuclei and made the A~80 region one of the four known chiral symmetry regions. Thirdly, summarized the experimental criteria for chiral nuclei. Fourthly, discovered and named the “stapler” and “umbrella” patterns in nuclei. Fifthly, developed a charged particle detector and applied it in the in-beam spectroscopy experiments on large scientific devices. Finally yet importantly,he started a research team in nuclear physics in Weihai campus of Shandong University. So far, he had published more than 80 SCI papers and won several awards, such as the National outstanding youth fund, 6th Hu jimin educational science award and 2016 China's top ten cutting-edge science and technology figures.
