On the afternoon of December 9, Shandong Provincial Government Information Office held a press conference. Wu Zhen, Vice President of Shandong University, introduced the policy of high-end talents of the University at the conference. Shandong University has implemented the policy of "Going out and inviting in" to create a good environment for talents’ development. Taking advantage of the policy, Shandong University has introduced and cultivated up to 68 state-level talents till now.
"Qilu Youth Forum", an important brand event of Shandong University first held in 2016, is also included in “the 11thChina Shandong Domestic and Overseas High-end Talents Exchange Fair and the 1stShandong Talent Development Fair” this year, which was successfully held from October 16th to 20th, 2020. Adopting a combination of offline meeting and online live stream, the Forum attracted nearly 500 young scholars from 24 countries and regions to participate, reflecting its continuing expanding of scale and influence. The Forum builds a platform of communication and exchange between Shandong University and global young talents, showing Shandong Province’s sincerity and determination to attract talents all over the world.
Shandong University has made remarkable progress in attracting domestic and oversea talents and elevating the overall level of the its talent team.
On one hand, Shandong University actively expands its channels for attracting talents. Making full use of multiple platform resources such as Alumni Association and Chinese Scholars Association, Shandong University widely publicizes its talent policy. Shandong University also encourages key disciplines and research platforms to organize talent introduction activities regularly. Facing the worldwide spread of COVID-19 pandemic this year, Shandong University made some innovation in its work of attracting talents by taking advantage of network resources such as Facebook to improve the accuracy and by holding online job interview and policy introduction to improve the efficiency of the work.
On the other hand, Shandong University focuses on the development of talents. The first step is to build an orderly talent system and an effective talent growth path to make sure that talents of different disciplines and ages can get proper support for their development. Then, a series of policies to support young talents’ development were issued to guarantee the work.
Shandong University also endeavors to improve talent service. In recent years, Shandong University has been committed to creating a favorable environment for talent working and a comfortable environment for talent living. Talents are introduced on a case-by-case basis with the purpose to solve all concerned problems such as research fund, experimental space, large-scale instruments purchase, personal housing and children’s education, etc. To offer better living conditions, service specialist and green medical channels are provided to high-level talents of Shandong University. The university has created a positive ecological environment for respecting and caring for talent, and serving their demand to achieve a successful career. In recent years, Shandong University has made remarkable achievements in talent introduction and cultivation, forming a talent pool at multiple levels. The number of introduced high-level talents were doubled continuously in 2017 and 2018, and the number of high-level talents at the provincial and ministerial level were multiplied in 2019. So far this year, a total of 68 talents at national level have been introduced and cultivated. Under current complex situation of COVID-19 epidemic harmfully impacting on talent flow globally and the unprecedented fierce competition for talents domestically, Shandong University strives to turn crisis into opportunity, and achieve new breakthrough in talent introduction and cultivation.
