Recently, the Shandong AssociationforScience and Technology announced the list of winnersof the 3^rdShandong Provincial SciencePopularizationWorks Competition. The works of astronomy and space science submitted by teachers and students of the School of Space Science and Physics of Shandong University,Weihai and the Institute of Space Science of Shandong University won 2 second prizes and 3 third prizes. Before that, the teachers and students of our school also made good achievements in the Shandong Provincial Science Popularization Speech Competition, who won 1 second prize and 3 third prizes.

The Shandong Provincial Science Popularization Works Competition is organized by the Province’s Association for Science and Technology, Department of Education, Department of Science and Technology, Department of Industry and Information Technology, and Department of Culture and Tourism. The theme of the Competition is "Creating a Prosperous Culture of Science Popularization, Improving the Quality of the Citizens". The Shandong Provincial Science Popularization Speech Competition is organized by the Province’s Association of Science and Technology, Department of Education, Department of Science and Technology, and Health Commission. Through actively coordinating and mobilizing all forces in the society, the Competition aims to further enrich the science resources, create science atmosphere, improve the quality of citizens, and serve the high-quality development of our province's economy and society.

The School of Space Science and Physics of Shandong University, Weihai, the Institute of Space Science of Shandong University, the Weihai Astronomical Observatory, and the Astronomical Society of Shandong University Weihai Campus and Qingdao Campus, have been working together to overcome the effects of the Coronavirus and actively explore and carry out various online and offline science popularization activities. In 2020, they endeavored to improve the ability of science popularization works creation and innovation, carried out more than 30 activities of all kinds and published more than one hundred articles, which attracted more than 35000 audience both offline and online.
